The latest on Smallpox…

I got my Smallpox vaccination about 2 weeks ago… and it’s been progressing “nicely”.  Of course, I still have about 2 more weeks until the vaccination has run it’s course.

The SP vac isn’t a shot… it’s pokes… a lot of them… in one spot.  In fact, it’s not even Smallpox… it’s actually a related virus, called Cowpox.  The vaccine and it’s administration were discovered in 1796 by Edward Jenner.  You would think they would have come up with something different and a bit more comfortable by now.

Anyway,  my smallpox vaccine site has been covered constantly by bandaids since I received it, except when I clean it… and document the resulting pock(?).

Day 11

Starting to scab... grossness continues...

Starting to scab... grossness continues...

I don’t have a picture from today, but as soon as I clean it again I will get one.  I’m on the downslope now.  The itching has stopped for the most part.  Now I just have to wait for the scab to fall off and see how big the scar is…

Gross!!! I never saw Kent’s, but that’s really disgusting. I can see why they tell you not to scratch it. Good luck!
